Nile Basin Initiative/Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office – securing support for one of Africa’s biggest natural infrastructure projects

The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) is an intergovernmental partnership of 10 Nile Basin countries, namely Burundi, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, The Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. This all-inclusive basin-wide institution was established just over ten years ago to provide a forum for consultation and coordination among the Basin States for the sustainable management and development of the shared Nile Basin water and related resources.

Impala has worked with the NBI for more than five years. Our remit has been to help explain its aims and objectives to decision makers, opinion formers and members of the public across all the countries affected by its work. We have produced a range of communication materials including videos and print publications.
